Dr. Donghyun Ryu is a postdoctoral scholar in the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences at the University of California, Berkeley, working under the supervision of Professor Tsu-Jae King Liu and Professor Sayeef Salahuddin. He received his Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Seoul National University, Republic of Korea, in 2024, where his research focused on micro/nanofabrication and process-in-memory and systems for AI applications. After completing his Ph.D., he worked as a design-technology co-optimization (DTCO) engineer at Samsung Electronics until January 2026, where he analyzed latch circuits in memory products with consideration of device reliability characteristics.
Research
Donghyun’s research focuses on emerging electronic devices and neuromorphic hardware for energy-efficient computing. His work explores device–circuit–system co-optimization (DTCO/STCO) to bridge device physics with large-scale integrated circuits and systems. He is currently working on ferroelectric-based negative differential resistance (NDR) devices for low-power and high-density IC applications using Sentaurus TCAD and HSPICE.
