Md Ishfak Tahmid received his B.Sc. Eng. and M.Sc. degrees in Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE) from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET), Dhaka, Bangladesh, in 2018 and 2022 respectively. He is currently pursuing his Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences at the University of California at Berkeley. He is a graduate student researcher at the “Kante Lab” at UC Berkeley.
Research
My primary research focus is on surface emitting lasers based on III-V semiconductor gain medium. In particular, I aim to advance the design and performance of bounded states in the continuum lasers and the Berkeley surface emitting lasers (BerkSELs). My additional research interests include nanophotonics inverse design and Si photonics.
