Dr. Munkyu Kang is a postdoctoral fellow in Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences at UC Berkeley. Munkyu received his B.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Physics from Korea university, Republic of Korea. After graduation, he worked as a postdoctoral researcher at Center for Molecular Spectroscopy and Dynamics, Institute for Basic Science, Republic of Korea in 2023.
Research
Dr. Munkyu Kang is interested in optical microscopes and imaging systems, bioimaging, the design of optical imaging setups, and the development of computational imaging algorithms. His research involved developing a flexible lensless fiber bundle endoscope system for label-free, high-resolution biological imaging. Currently, he is working on optically demonstrating a high-speed MEMS-based spatial light modulator (SLM), a wavefront shaping device. He is conducting optical simulations for the SLM, as well as calibrating and building an experimental setup.
