Dr. Zakaria Al Balushi is SK Hynix Assistant Professor in Materials Science and Engineering at UC Berkeley, and Faculty Scientist at the Materials Sciences Division at Lawrence Berkeley National Labs. He received his Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering in 2017 and a B.S./M.S. degree in Engineering Science and Mechanics in 2012, both from Penn State.
Prior to joining UC Berkeley, he was a Resnick Prize Postdoc Fellow in Applied Physics and Materials Science at California Institute of Technology. Dr. Al Balushi’s research is focused on electronic materials synthesis of compound semiconductor thin films and nanostructures using chemical vapor deposition. His group is particularly interested in creating novel scalable crystal growth and integration schemes of emerging materials for logic, optoelectronic and power devices.
