Joshua Herrera is a physical chemistry Ph.D. candidate working in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at UC Berkeley and is currently a fellow of the Department of Energy’s Office of Science Graduate Student Research Fellowship (DOE-SCGSR). Joshua received his B.Sc. in chemistry at New Mexico State University in 2021.
Research
Joshua’s research revolves around the synthesis of novel, single-source precursors for large-area production of 2D semiconductors. Currently, he is developing dopants to engineer the electronic and optical behavior of these semiconductors for applications in next-gen transistors and photodiodes. By closely elucidating the formation dynamics and doping limits of the precursors, he plans on deterministically doping 2D materials to enable novel architectures with low-loss contacts.
